Pronounced cha-batta. This bread has a crispy crust with a chewy open-hole interior structure. The Chewy texture makes a superb accompaniment to meals, especially when it is drizzled with olive oil or dunked into soups and sauces. It is also a tasty breakfast bread when toasted and spread with butter similar to the hole-riddled interior of an English muffin. It is fast becoming the baguette of Italy. It takes us over 18 hours to bake this bread from start to finish!
We package our Ciabatta in a plastic bag to keep the moisture inside the loaf. To refresh the crispy crust, heat the oven at 350 degrees F for 5-10 minutes or until crispy. Enjoy!
